AI or Human? A Socratic Exploration of Authorship
Tuesday May 13, 2025 12:40pm - 1:05pm CDT
Can artificial intelligence create stories as engaging and nuanced as a human writer? This interactive session invites participants to engage in a Socratic exploration of authorship by comparing two distinct stories—one written by a human and the other generated by AI. Through a structured fishbowl discussion, participants will analyze elements such as emotional depth, dialogue authenticity, and stylistic patterns to determine which story was crafted by AI. Participants will also reflect on how AI’s role in creative writing challenges our understanding of artistic expression and originality. The session concludes with a discussion on equipping students with critical evaluation skills to differentiate between AI-generated and human-authored content. Prepare to listen, reflect, and engage in a thought-provoking conversation that blurs the lines between machine and human creativity.
